1.) These two first images are the two artworks that really made an impact on me. They are by Adolph Gottlieb (Dialogue 1, 1960) and n the right it is (George Went Swimming at Barnes Hole, but It Got Too Cold, 1957) by Joan Mitchell. The Black white and red one impacts me because it is so simple but could mean so much to the artist. It reminds me of graffiti from the streets in a way. The artwork on the right impacts me mainly because the title is so interesting for this artwork. Artists have such unique names for their work of arts. It impacts me also because the way it all came together.
2.) The to artworks that I noticed I connection to the most was (The Struggle, 1957) by Robert Goodnough, and (Barking Irons) which I am not positive of the artist. The struggle connects with me because of the look and title of it. It is so unique and the artwork looks like a struggle. It is a jumbled mess with colors and separated black lines separating the different colors. It kind of reminds me of my struggle in life. I have all my struggles which seem to mesh into one big struggle. Also the second artwork also looks like a mess but more of a happy mess. The artist has a way with his art to keep it cheery and I love the bright colors and it reminds me of my good days, Kind of still a mess but a happy mess. If I could I would have this artwork in my home.
3.) The next two artists are (Round Trip 1957) by Helen Frankenthaler and (Peinture no. 0528, 1915)by Alberto Magnelli and I would really like to explore and learn more about these artists. I think the Round Trip painting is amazing. It could have so many different meanings to it and I truly don't know what it truly means. I would love to know what she was thinking when creating his work of art. Same with the next artwork. It's simple but was the artist inspired by the colors and the shapes and even the sections of each different colors. I would love to research more into it and really find out what was going on in both of these artists heads as they drew these.

Annnnnnne,
ReplyDeleteThe selections you chose from the art gallery were extremely different from mine. There was a LOT of abstract art in the gallery, as you know!!! I think its interesting the way your read into the paintings and try and interpret the emotions/thoughts...I have been trying to do this but been mildly successful at best, I tihnk I need to try and remove the face value of things when it comes to this.
On a side note it was really interesting to me that you mention the Title of the work. Before reading your post I hadn't given that much thought into how much the title may actually effect the nature of the work. In the case of thesse types of art where there is little direction as where to start in interpreting a painting, perhaps the title would be a good place for me ;)
I really liked the images you chose, they were some very colorful pieces. I would also like to know more about Round Trip 1957 its a very interesting piece.
ReplyDeleteHi i just went through your photos and you have some of the same photos as me but you also havealot different photos too. In a lot of your pictures there is abstract and each picture could have a different meaning by the way you look at it. You did a good job on it just next time try to get a variety of photos.
